The vibe feeling a little off?? Broken up with your significant other? Resident office b$%ch finally gone! You need to cleanse your space!
First things first, grab yourself a bundle of white sage. You can get these bundles from your local Metaphysical supply store (fun to say right?) or online.
Important to note there are different types of sage to burn to cleanse a room. When it comes to burning sage for cleansing a room, the most commonly used type is White Sage (Salvia apiana). It is known for its distinct fragrance (smells like wacky tobaccy) and is believed to purify the energy, remove negative influences from a space and generally make you feel better about things.
While White Sage is the most commonly used sage for smudging, other varieties like Blue Sage (Salvia azurea), Black Sage (Salvia mellifera), and Desert Sage (Artemisia tridentata) are also used for cleansing purposes. Each variety has its own unique properties and fragrances, so you may choose the one that resonates with you the most, or that’s the easiest to get your hands on.
(When burning Sage, it's important to have a fireproof container like a ceramic bowl to catch the ashes.)(remember stop drop and roll🤣)
Now, let's get started!
Light the sage and let it burn for a few seconds until the smoke starts to billow. Blow the flame out and then move to the entrance of your room and work your way around the perimeter, making sure to get every nook and cranny.
It’s important to note that if you go outside with the sage or enter a space with lots of wind, it might catch light again instead of a small stream of smoke it will be like holding a bonfire. We once saged our office then walked over to our friends hair salon across the street - needless to say by the time we got there it was burning man without the cool outfits. (madness)
As you go, say a little mantra or intention that speaks to you, the one we use;
"Alright, room, listen up! It's time to shake off those bad vibes and make space for some serious fabulousness. I'm bringing in the sage to clear out all the negativity, drama, and any energy that doesn't serve me. This space is about to get a major attitude adjustment. So, step aside, negative energy, because we are all about positive vibes, fierce confidence, and high levels of fun” or just Bi$#hes be gone!!
But wait, we're not done yet! Here's where we up the ante. Once you've saged your room, it's time to bring in some fresh energy. Open up the windows and let some natural light in. Add some plants, crystals, or other natural elements to your space to keep that positive energy flowing.
Now, take a deep breath and soak it all in. Your room is now a sanctuary of positive energy, ready to uplift and inspire you! Enjoy your newly saged and refreshed space cutie!
